Gozzi’s Turkey Farm
November 9, 2016
Last Thanksgiving, my best friend, Abbi, said 8 magical words to me, “Do you want to go visit pink turkeys?”
“Pink Turkeys?!” I said.
I won’t lie, I thought for a moment she was completely messing with me because she knows the color pink is my weakness. It was that day I learned of a magical farm full of rainbow colored turkeys called Gozzi’s Turkey Farm. Today’s post covers everything you need to know about Gozzi’s Turkey Farm in Guilford, CT and why you should consider visiting it this Thanksgiving.

WHAT IS IT?
Gozzi’s Turkey Farm is a family run farm that has been opened for over 70 years. The farm opened in 1940, and soon after Martha Gozzi started displaying colorful turkeys for the kids in the area. The farm is now run by third generation farmer, Bill Gozzi, and sells fresh turkeys during the holiday season. While their turkeys are delicious, Gozzi’s is definitely most famous for their colorful Turkeys!

WHY GO?
To see purple, pink, yellow, blue and green turkeys!!! I mean, where else can you do that? It’s also free! The Turkeys are kept in a fenced in area and seem to like to eat grass. Feel free to try to feed them but be aware they also peck so don’t get too close!

WHERE IS IT?
Gozzi’s Turkey Farm is located at 2443 Boston Post Rd, Guilford, CT 06437. Look for the sign below and enter into the parking lot.
WHEN?
Gozzi’s Turkey Farm is open daily from 8am-5pm, but if you want to see the colorful turkeys go between the first week of November through Christmas Eve. The colorful turkeys are outside from 8:30am-4:30pm on most days. Check the Gozzi Facebook page for up-to-date information on when you can view the turkeys!

HOW DO THEY DO IT?
The truth is, no one really knows. If you ask the farmers they say it’s an old family secret and they can’t reveal the details. Some have speculated that the eggs are injected with dye, while others think that the birds are dyed after they are born with a non-toxic, vegetable based food dye. Either way, the turkeys seem fine and it is keeping them off of a Thanksgiving table!

HOW LONG SHOULD WE VISIT?
The cool thing about Gozzi’s is you don’t need to spend a lot of time visiting the farm. I would allow yourself at least 15-20 minutes to checkout the Turkeys and take some photos. This is a great place to take kids!
He’s my favorite…
We hope you enjoy your visit to Gozzi’s Turkey Farm and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
XOXO,
Lindsay & Christopher
